What a gorgeous summer we've had here! I've had some wonderful adventures this year, including teaching at Harmony College Northwest, taking 3rd year Directors College courses at Harmony University in Missouri, and enjoying working with a bunch of new adult students.
With September arriving, we're all thinking about new beginnings, and I'd encourage you to entertain ideas about playing with your voice this year!
If you're in the Surrey area, consider Soundscape, a mixed a cappella ensemble that meets on Monday nights and sings all sorts of repertoire from the Beatles to Simon & Garfunkel to Toto to Queen! Yes, we're learning the epic "Bohemian Rhapsody" this year - if you've ever wanted to sing it, now's your chance! We're especially looking for Basses and Tenors, so if you're a Soprano or an Alto, be prepared to find a low-voiced buddy to come with you.
If you're a North Shore person and love to sing purely for the thrill of it, Joyful Noise is for you! We rehearse Thursday nights and sing accompanied tunes in many genres - if it feels great to learn and makes us happy to sing it, we'll sing it. Jazz, world, pop, gospel and R&B all make us wanna dance and clap and, of course, SING!
Maybe you're already involved in a group but would like to hone your skills - one on one instruction is the next step to getting more out of your voice and more enjoyment from your singing. I teach private lessons at my home in Lower Lonsdale, and guarantee you'll learn a whole lot about how your voice works, and you'll laugh a lot while you're learning it.
